Nizza La Bella means Nice the Beautiful in Italian and in Nissard the official language of the city of Nice.

Our Inspiration

The inspiration for Nizza La Bella comes from the many pizzeria/bistro hybrids that are unique to the city of Nice. Tucked away on the side streets of Vieux Nice these neighborhood places feature wood-fired pizzas and other simple dishes. They are not grand restaurants but venerated local haunts that are usually not on the tourist routes. Nice has always enchanted artists, writers and pleasure seekers of all kinds with its stunning charms. Few can resist the seduction of the senses that makes up this place of brilliant sunny light, riotous color, steep hills, azure sea, scented flowers, wild aromatic herbs and vividly flavorful cuisine. Here in lies our inspiration: colorful, upbeat and playful atmosphere, pleasant aromas, hearty flavors and cheerful service--a dining experience for bon vivants everywhere.

Who We Are

Nizza La Bella is a casual, reasonably priced, neighborhood bistro that features the lively French and Italian Riviera inspired cuisine of the city of Nice. We serve simple rustic style comfort food in a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. The heart of our restaurant is the kitchen's massive imported French wood-fired oven, where pizzas, roasts, seafood, fish, gratins, desserts and hearth breads emerge from its fire-lit glow. The zinc top bar is the convivial center of the restaurant offering artisan cocktails, aperitifs, spirits, cordials, wines and beers.

The cuisine at Nizza features many authentic renditions of Nicois specialities such as Pizza Provencal Feu de Bois, Socca, Moules Provencale, Bouillabaisse, Salade Nicoise, Anchoiade, Fougasse, and Epinards Nicois. We also offer many traditional French bistro favorites such as Soupe a l'Oignion, Frites, Salade Lyonnaise, Steak-Frites, Poulet Roti Feu de Bois, Poisson Feu de Bois and Macaroni au Gratin.

Our wood-fired pizzas run the gamut from traditional French style pizzas such as the "La Reina", La Provencale, La Verdura and La Bouillaibassa, to a more classic Italian style such as La Napolitaine and La Bianca al Quattro Formaggio i Funghi and, in the tradition of New York Style pizzas of yore, we offer the Lombardi, La Festa San Gennaro and La Grande Bouffe.

Our desserts, which are entirely house-made, feature classic French renditions of Chocolate Mousse, Creme Brulee, Pain Perdu au Chocolate, Croquant au Fruits and our signature Provencale Galette au Pommes, Miele, et Thym a La Mode (baked-to-order in our wood-fired oven). We produce our own Fougasse baked daily, pizza and buns, hand-made fresh mozzarella, sausages and meatballs. We hand-cut and double fry our frites and use the time-honored slow cooking methods to produce authentic versions of Daube Nicois, Coq au Vin and Cassoulet.

About the Restaurant

Nizza La Bella features a cozy dining room that seats 40 with 8 additional seats at the bar. The golden washed walls, dark woodwork and Art Nouveau lamps create an authentic French bistro ambiance. Our zinc top bar is the social center of the restaurant where one can dine or enjoy our fabulous classic cocktails.

We can accommodate most small to mid-size parties and larger parties upon request.

We also offer take-out items from our menu.
