In France, the meal period in between lunch and dinner was traditionally referred to as "Le Quatrieme" (the 4th meal), Casse Croute or Gouter (late afternoon snack). In recent years, the "Le Slunch" has become a popular weekend pasttime. Le Slunch specifically refers to a lighter meal or snack in the late afternoon after lunch but before supper.
